Homes are typically constructed from locally available materials, reflecting generations of knowledge about shelter and craftsmanship suited to the wet, warm climate. Because Papua New Guinea is one of the most linguistically diverse places on earth, multilingualism is common: the Minaveha language remains central to community life, while trade languages such as Tok Pisin are often used for wider communication.
The Minaveha are largely identified with Christianity, and the gospel has had a significant presence among them for many years. Christian teaching and church life are meaningful parts of community rhythms, shaping values and providing opportunities for worship and instruction. Many also put their faith in local spirits.
There is a continuing need for deeper discipleship and strong biblical teaching so that Minaveha believers are firmly grounded in Scripture and grow in spiritual maturity. Access to the full Bible in their language would further strengthen both individuals and the church community. Training and equipping local leaders is essential so pastors and teachers can guide their communities with sound doctrine and wisdom.
